TARNISHED

$250.00
Sold Out

Tarnished, in simpler terms, is a dual-filter octave drive. Not glitch-hell this time but more filter-hell I guess you could say. With Tarnished, you’ll have two different sides grouped together: Drive and Octave on the right. Filter on the left. Filter, Octave and Drive are all in parallel with one another and blended with separate output controls. Octave is achieved by combing the low/high octave outputs from the CMOS Hex Inverting buffer that operates along with a binary counter\divider that focuses on two specific outputs together producing the octave effect with the CMOS arrangement. Filter portion consists of two controls: suboctave filter and “pretty damn close but it’s not PLL” filter. This secondary filter takes aspects of the synth sounds you’d hear in a PLL pedal but without the oscillators/drones and harmonizers. The secondary (PLL related) filter can be removed with toggle control to only have suboctave present as when secondary filter is present, the suboctave filter influences to the overall PLL related filter. The secondary filter can be morphed with a switch of a toggle that changes the characteristic and overall sound to a resonant style effect.

But what is it like? (Other than watching demo vids):

  • With drive and octave together with blended gain, imagine what an Unga Bunga build would sound like and this is that.

  • It is in the same category as PLL fuzz but it’s not PLL. Why isn’t it? No oscillators and no more than 3 knobs controlling PLL related effects. Just areas within a PLL that I believe are nice separated and included with a different arrangement of effects.

  • In a broken down description, it can range from an octave drive (or just octave) to filtered synth fuzz effects.

Tarnished, I believe, is the loudest DSD pedal yet so BE AWARE of volume settings.

Oh, it does have expression feature that controls the “pretty damn close but it’s not” PLL related filter. TRS cable required.

For best performance and use, fully recommend the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Expression Ramper when choosing an expression control device when paired with Tarnished.

You may ask "Why does my Tarnished look different from all the rest?". The answer is that each Tarnished is its own variant of acid etching.

***Please allow up to 3-4 weeks for pre-orders to be fulfilled. More than likely will be delivered before then but sometimes, things happen.***

Playability

TARNISHED pairs well with most pedals. This is a very loud pedal so be aware of volume control position before playing.
