Rust is a single playback fuzz where the delayed max length is half a sec but is pushed through a filter that changes the overall character from filtered metallic havoc to a wall of fuzzed-octave sound. And of course, the momentary switch, the bread and butter of both Dust and Rust, will hold note/sound played and have playback repeatedly until released.

Also, Rust is the sibling pedal to Dust.

Mask Audio Electronics described it best by categorizing it as an “unhinged delay” fuzz.

You may ask "Why does my Rust look different from all the rest?". The answer is that each Rust is it's own variant of acid etching.

Footswitches

Left Footswitch - Bypass

Turns the effect on and off. LED indicates whether Bypass is on or off.

Right Footswitch - Momentary

When held down, depending on position of knob, will hold audio played for as long as you hold the momentary switch down.

Knobs

Left knob

Changes length of single playback note.

Right knob

Filter control that ranges from suspended suboctave giving metallic havoc to wall of fuzzed-octave sound.

Expression

Controls effect of left knob and subtle changes to filter effect from the right knob.

Located on the side. TRS cable required. Expression is controlling 10K pot so expression pedal used with Rust may differ in control of expression pedal is higher in control value. For best performance and use, fully recommend Old Blood Noise Endeavors Expression Ramper when choosing an expression control device for Rust.

Volume

There is an internal trimpot where you can adjust the overall output.

***Warning***

It can and will get very loud and just be careful because no one wants a busted speaker just by turning a trimpot. This is set to adjust counterclockwise so going 12 o’clock is not recommended. Stay between 1 and 3 o’clock but hey, you’re the one in control.

Playability

RUST pairs well with most pedals but momentary footswitch may operate differently if compressor is placed before RUST. If having synth or different instruments other than guitar or bass going into Rust, the effect may operate differently depending on the strength of the input signal as well.
